The train whistle blew

We hugged

Longingly

Not wanting

To part

Again it whistled

And watched

As I slowly boarded

Not knowing

When or where

Our lives reunited

In the rain

On a train

I left you

Unwillingly wondering

If I would return

 

Our lives in turmoil

The world changed

Never the same

Nor our lives

For I never returned

The person I was

What should have been
