Long Ago, We Stood (2009)

A Poem by Leon Gipson
"

a hopeless romantic once said...

"

Long ago

We stood

In the rain

Tears streaming

Not wanting

To say goodbye

The train whistle blew

We hugged

Longingly

Not wanting

To part

Again it whistled

You stood

And watched

As I slowly boarded

Not knowing

When or where

Our lives reunited

Long ago

In the rain

On a train

I left you

Unwillingly wondering

If I would return

Our lives in turmoil

The world changed

Never the same

Nor our lives

For I never returned

The person I was

An ethereal spirit

Seeking the corporal

What should have been

The day the train left

The tears fell as rain

As the heavens cried

About
Began writing "poetry" many years ago. Simple stuff that had to rhyme, now it tends to be more "modernistic", but dark at times and sometimes rhymes - depends upon the mood. Those that I will be post.. more..
