Homeward Bound (2009)

Homeward Bound (2009)

A Poem by Leon Gipson
"

Yet another angst filled rhyme...

"

If I were,

Was I?

If I was,

Am I?

A train I took

Into the snowy night

Knowing the way

Yet angst filled

Homeward bound

Or, just another place

Crisp the air

Thoughts deep

Pondering a priorily

Strangely familiar

Knowing a posteriorily

Summarily extraordinary

Bound I was

Chained to the past

Summoned to the future

Stuck in the present

A world within

A life without

I cannot

Not know

I look

See I cannot

Listen I do

Hear I cannot

Your eyes

Your words

A world for me

To be

Tossed about

Confused by order

A world too late

Or too soon

Like the trains of the night

Destinations to make

Strangers and friends

On their way

Separate ways

Crossed paths

If only once

Touched by another

We find ourselves

Vulnerable, defenseless

Barriers and facades

Help us through the journey

Seldom found

A kindred soul

Reaching out

A morsel to share

Rare the moment

When a connection made

A spark ignites

The eternal flame

Drawn as a moth to flame

Daring to burn my wings

I flit about

Your wit and charm

Not knowing what harm

Will come if

Too close I dare

The pain that befalls

About
Began writing "poetry" many years ago. Simple stuff that had to rhyme, now it tends to be more "modernistic", but dark at times and sometimes rhymes - depends upon the mood. Those that I will be post.. more..
