Just Once More (2006)

Just Once More (2006)

A Poem by Leon Gipson

Do the muses know?

Whatever it is,

Will it so be

If they dare say it?

Be it will

Or, be it not

A poet’s swill

Begins to churn

As thoughts idyllic sour.

Bloat of word

Rivers of ink

A twisted rhyme

Sometimes absurd

As the babbling brook.

Outer glee

Inner angst

Illusions glow

Reality dims

Glimpses of now and then.

Mind askew, ravenous

With temporal voids.

NachtHexen fill the darkness,

No escaping

Their deadly aim.

Immortality wanes

Wisps of ambition

Toiling unrelentlessly

Gnaw their way

Into my withering soul.

Ethereal chills

Devour me.

One more time

It beckons

With impish allure.

I cry out

Wishing, waiting.

Upon my star, I yearn

To linger

Just once more.

About
Began writing "poetry" many years ago. Simple stuff that had to rhyme, now it tends to be more "modernistic", but dark at times and sometimes rhymes - depends upon the mood. Those that I will be post.. more..
