Ecology 101 (2005)A Poem by Leon GipsonCame about through a discussion on global warming. An eternity it seemed Since the rains came Teasing, not quenching Not a creature aroused. For days on end The wheat fields wept Under the unrelenting skies Toiled by no one. How did we not know? That gases rise and, Heavy metals sink Into such a ghastly jumble Too late to be humble Hot winds now blow Where water did flow A tear becomes a torrent.
