Of My Winters Night Dream (2006)A Poem by Leon GipsonThe western front too Not a sound to be heard Not even a whisper. As strangers pass in the night Sleepwalking I wonder Not even a notice Nothing to be heard. A word, if only a word Come it might Softly spoken From so far away. Thoughts do count Memories don’t fade Smiles like sunshine Words like wine. Linger as I would Caught in this netherworld Shadows of the night Cast their spells. A throb of the heart. A gasp for air Eyes wide open A dream so vivid. Blinded by the light A sun so bright Cold it grows not Within my soul. A winter’s night dream Warmed by gentle caresses On my mind So complete, so sublime.
