Don't Come Back

Don't Come Back

A Poem by Leo Allen

I'm apologizing for causing such crying
over this finally dying. It never stood
a chance dear, and we both knew.
When we walked the river - alcohol
flooding our liver. I'd take it back now,
if only I could.
Now your vessel is fading, a soul ferrying
all that you were carrying. You probably see
black now.
I've sat on our bed, alone and prone to
a mind turning stone. Someday it won't
hurt anymore.
