A poem with a laugh. I wrote this to have a bit of fun. Hope you like it.

Good aye Mate

 

Howdy cobber,
good aye mate.
Dismal weather,
nah it’s great.
Got five dollars,
nah, got a buck.
Need a cigarette,
nah, outta luck.

How’s your family,
doin’ great.
How’s the wife,
she’s still irate.
Taking her shopping,
ain’t got time.
The shops are closed,
it’s half past nine.

What’s with Johnny,
He’s working loads.
Got a mortgage,
I suppose.
Good aye Partner,
hello mate.
Going home,
it’s getting late.

Truly fantastic piece of work here, the humor, the accent, the feeling of two mates, who see eachother on the street in the mundane life, and speak to eachother, It brings a nostalgic feeling with it, almost how they spoke in times of Shakespeare, but more Fun, and witty you bring this, so good...

Thanks Rita. Good question regarding the wife. I got the idea from metting a couple in a supermarket and everytime, for no real reason, he says that she is in one of her moods after I ask them how they are. They are a strange couple really. Never have a good word about eachother.

Yes true Rita. I think this couple did tell me how long they were married. From memory it was well over the 30 mark.
