Roger The Cricket

What does Roger have to do to make his life better?

ROGER THE CRICKET.

Roger was a cricket,
who loved to chomp on grass.
He ate and ate and put on weight,
and even brought food to class.

His friends began to worry,
as he was eating such a lot.
But Roger never listened to them,
as he didn’t know when to stop.

Weeks went by and Roger got big,
as big as the garden cat.
Even the Dog was scared of him,
and so was the garden Rat.

Then one day he asked a friend,
to bring some food for dinner.
Roger was far too big to walk,
and wished that he was thinner.

Late that night, with tummy full,
He promised that he would change.
And only eat what was good for him,
Even if it felt strange.

He knew that it would be real hard,
to change his silly ways.
But exercise and far less food,
had brought him better days.

Now that Roger was looking good,
and all his friends were glad.
He knew he made his Mother proud,
As well as his dear old Dad.

Your poems are so unique, so original, that I never know what to expect!
This poem is great for young children - especially those that eat a lot! :) I can see a parent sitting down with their child, reading this poem to them. That's how good it is!
I was going to say that you misspelled weight, but I see that you edited it! :)

Hi Leo, this poem has another good message that is important for kids-eat right and exercise! I thought your rhymes were good and flowed nicely.

A couple of things I noticed- in the first stanza wait should be weight.. And I think bought should be brought.

Yes, we have a society of fast foods and what not and using a insect is a nice way of passing on a message.
