A Poem by Lendorel
"

Just something I was thinking about when I was playing second life. Can we become oblivious to the real life around us?

"
He sits staring at a screen, hiding behind a mask of pixels and special effects
The landscape filled with trees and meadows and fae

He sits staring at the screen, hoping behind the mask of pixels of the opposite sex
That one would open up and throw their heart his way

He forgets for a time his family sitting around the living room, out of view of his screen
Dreaming about a construct of pixels, effects, and well written texts

He forgets in his mind that the woman on the other side of the world, on her machine
Has dreams of her own, that go beyond fake pixels and make believe sex.

Does he know what's real and what's fake?
Will his actions bring on a mistake?
Does he still love his wife, or his new second life?
Would he risk it all for a fake booty call?

She sits staring at a screen, hiding behind a mask of pixels and special effects
The landscape filled with trees, meadows and handsome elves...

We make mistakes all the time, so we need to make the mistakes we can live with. Pixels are real, the person on the other side of the room or the screen is real. I may reach out and touch another via keyboard or hand, and each has its place. Knowing the difference will make the difference, and dedication to one may lose the other.

I enjoy free form poetry if it has a nice flow to it and this does, as well as readily accessible references for me.

Thanks Lendorel
