A Warm Welcome for Aimee

A Warm Welcome for Aimee

A Poem by Lena M. P.
"

Dedication to my new granddaughter and to my son and daughter-in-law who lost their son last year. I was too sick to get to go see her so my son let me hear her first cries over the phone.

"
I cried along with you when I heard on the phone
Your first cries as you made yourself known
With little fists flying and a voice to be heard
You let everyone know, you would not be deferred.

With angelic eyes and a cute little nose
You were pink and rosy, right down to your toes
Everyone cooing, laughing and yes a tear too
For the new life and blessing on your day of debut.

With a head full of hair the color of fawn
Born in the morning just before dawn
You visited awhile and then went out like a light
An angel needs rest to shine that bright.

So welcome Aimee Michelle, we’ve waited so long
To have you with us; to hear your life song
Never doubt for a moment how much you are loved
You are our blessing that God sent from above.

Scenario very well described. I really liked the first lines. I really liked how you were able to put description of everyone being there even though you weren't it's as if you were seeing it in your mind's eye while on the phone. Good use of your imagination. I also like your grand daughter's name it's really pretty.

This was so touching and beautifully done. It brought tiny tears welling up in my eyes remembering how it felt when my own children were born and my little grand babies. what miracles they are!!!!!!!! great job.

The birth of my daughter. I held her and knew I had a reason to be alive. Your poem is beautiful. A new baby is day to celebrate. A beautiful poem of love and thankfulness.

This is a marvellous introduction for the little one. I'm sure she'll treasure this verse all her life, and just perhaps it will persuade her to write a bit of poetry herself, for her own grand-daughter. Congrats.

Oh, wow, so amazingly beautiful! I'm sure Aimee Michelle will come to adore this poem (like everyone else who reads it) when she grows older.
Also, that was an awesome idea of your son and daughter-in-law to let you hear her cry :)

If I understand you correctly, then Aimee restored the light to their lives and probably to yours, too. I'm sure your poem will be cherished always.
