Deluge of Despondency

Deluge of Despondency

A Poem by Lena M. P.

Rain pounding my soul in torrents

Feelings of despair overwhelming

A band around my heart restricting flow

Non-existent love in a world deplete of compassion

Harried existence to a futile end of unacknowledged achievements

A specter in the streets of humanity

Can you see me, hear me, touch me?

I cry alone but I cry for all.

Despair pounding my soul in torrents

Rain is definately melancholy. It's probably the most used word in poems defining the blues..probably the biggest motivator of great writings, also. This is a good piece to show the connection of weather and our emotions. Good job. Rain..

I love the use of rain as a symbol and a metaphor. I really liked this poem. My favorite line is "A specter in the streets of humanity".
