People are beginning to flyA Poem by LeighThis poem is about words doing what we want them to do.
Stretching and reaching with fingertips high The people of Earth are beginning to fly They’ve taken on the looks of the angels aloft With white feathered wings so pure and so soft They’re spiralling round trees and circling in loops Trying out their wings and gathering in groups Then setting their sights on places so far There’s no need for buses, trains or a car The airports are graveyards for rusty old planes The land is so quiet with its disused roads and lanes Over water and seas travelling they all go To the far flung places they knew so long ago When you’ve been close to heaven above It's a tremendous feeling and one that you love But the worst feeling of all is coming down To reach hard land, to be on solid ground The people of Earth are flying I can see them out my window …
