The Wild Horses are Coming

The Wild Horses are Coming

A Poem by Leigh
"

Inspired by Ritchie Blackmore's (Deep Purple) guitar solo on Highway Star. The sound created is like a wild horse that gets more and more out of control until eventually it is reigned in

"

The wild horses are coming

I can hear them on the plain

The lightning has spooked them

And they’re on the move again

The wild horses are coming

Their teeth are white and wide

People are battening the hatches

Waiting for them to pass on by

The wild horses are coming

They’re racing through the spray

They look a vision of freedom

But they don’t feel it that way

The wild horses are rising

Their heads are high and proud

Racing on the crashing waves

To the silver in the cloud

The white horses are racing

Across the evening sky

Their misshapen and fluffy bodies

Twist and changing as they fly

The shapes of Horses are fading

They’re turning a fiery red

Thundering into the sunset

Now among the living dead

The horses of eros start wild but eventually work their way into an expression of love and beauty in our lives. Along the way they refine their ways with some shocking results but their immortal natures bring them back to renew their journey for the achievement.

This is nothing short of stunning!
The imagery is carried like a gentle ripple, allowed to set sail...just beautiful!

Incredible write. I love the symbolism. Lovely, vivid imagery of the clouds as horses following the setting sun into the darkness of the underworld....

Thanks
I associate these horses with a thunderstorm. But I'm not sure about the last line. Makes them sound like zombies...
