The Wild Horses are Coming

The Wild Horses are Coming

A Poem by Leigh
"

Inspired by Ritchie Blackmore's (Deep Purple) guitar solo on Highway Star. The sound created is like a wild horse that gets more and more out of control until eventually it is reigned in

"

The wild horses are coming

I can hear them on the plain

The lightning has spooked them

And they’re on the move again

The wild horses are coming

Their teeth are white and wide

People are battening the hatches

Waiting for them to pass on by

The wild horses are coming

They’re racing through the spray

They look a vision of freedom

But they don’t feel it that way

The wild horses are rising

Their heads are high and proud

Racing on the crashing waves

To the silver in the cloud

The white horses are racing

Across the evening sky

Their misshapen and fluffy bodies

Twist and changing as they fly

The shapes of Horses are fading

They’re turning a fiery red

Thundering into the sunset

Now among the living dead

The horses of eros start wild but eventually work their way into an expression of love and beauty in our lives. Along the way they refine their ways with some shocking results but their immortal natures bring them back to renew their journey for the achievement.

'The Wild Horses are Coming'
Leigh,
This felt like the anticipation of the consequence of evil. Choices made that always bring some result, either good or bad. Some would not like what I just said but that was my take. The world as well as our own country are in so many ways reaping both good and bad. How much of the good is not reported but the other is more so. Anyway it was a wonderful and colorful piece. thanks for writing it!
Blessings,
Kathy

Man, this reminds me of the movie Equus. Especially the scene where Peter Firth is riding on the horse, worshiping it. Quite the remembrance, thank you for that.

Great piece for sure.

So beautiful and powerful. You captured the strength, spirit, and endurance of horses, and the poem is very, very well written. Great write, friend.

Had to go to youtube and listen to the song. Knew it. Forgot I knew it. ... and you are so correct. Once you pointed it out, I heard it clearly! You nailed the essence here quite well. Thanks for the RR.

Don't know that guitar solo but i can imagine it now. Great flow and pace to the poem which reinforces the isea of the music coming in waves. Lovely imagery, I really enjoyed this
