Imogen Evie and the Canine CalamityA Poem by Leigh BedfordImogen loves walking her Auntie Betty's dogs. This was another fun story I wrote for Imogen to enjoy at bed time.Canine
Calamity
It was evening one Wednesday, an hour before dark When Imogen Evie arrived at the park. She
unclipped her seat belt, jumped out of the door And sped
off as soon as her feet hit the floor.
In her
sparkly new raincoat her face beamed with pride As she
raced up the ladders and zipped down the slide She zoomed
passed the see-saw and climbed through the rings Then paused
for a moment to rest on the swings.
“Here Molly,
Fetch Winston!” Imogen called And she tossed
up the doggies bright blue bouncy ball. “Woof!”
shouted Winston and Molly replied As the ball
hit a tree and bounced high in the sky.
It flew
through a flock of birds , up through
the clouds And down by
a group of boys playing aloud With a nod
of his head and a tip of his hat A little
boy swung out his new baseball bat.
Whack!!!
With a
scurry, a scuttle , a scamper of paws Winston
dived through the bushes to Immy’s applause. Molly ran across flower beds , splashed through the
puddles Stopped
briefly and sweetly gave Immy a cuddle.
Then
whoosh!!! She was off again, Winston behind, With only
that bouncy blue ball now in mind. But those
silly doggies were soon out of luck As they
leapt past a white swan and over a duck
“Stop
Molly! No Winston!” She yelled from
beyond As Imogen
watched them splash down in the pond! while they
clung to a lilli pad, soaked to their ears Aunt Betty
arrived and said “oh dear, oh dear”.
As they
headed back home at the end of the day Molly
moonshine and Winston sat chuckling away. And once
they had got there, ever so tired They laid
down to dry off in front of the fire. © 2013 Leigh Bedford |
