A Poem For My Mother

A Poem For My Mother

A Poem by Christina
"

This poem was inspired by the time my mother told me she resented her cousin for committing suicide.

"
I am a forest now;
The essence of my soul
Flows through this bed of roots;
I have found such tranquility,
Tears often escape my eyes
And come out sap;
I've witnessed many things,
Absorbed the fingerprints
Of many men in times past--
I have gained the wisdom
I once desired in another life;
Come, visit me in my home,
Listen to my rippling leaves
And at once hear my whispered apologies:
"I'm sorry that in my search for happiness
I had to break your heart."

Great language and skill. This is simple yet deep and meaningful. Well done. The imagery of the tree and nature invokes Mother Earth but also the foundation of the women who raises us. Great job.

those lines meant so much with so less words,
for a first draft its quite an approach,
wonderful job!
keep it up.
