Honey

Honey

A Poem by Christina

I grew up
As two souls
Grew apart,
What was once
Thick and sweet
Like honey
Evaporated
Like thin stale water
In the summer heat,
And I wondered
If the honey
Was ever honey to begin with,
Or if it was simply water
Pretending for thirteen years
To be something better than it was.

You bring me flowers in the morning
But it's not the same anymore,
You tell me you love me
But nothing is the same anymore,
Has my love faded
Or was it never there at all?
