Deterioration

Deterioration

A Poem by Christina
"

I've been in a depressive episode for a month now, maybe longer. Everything has lost its taste and eating has become a chore. I thought of this today when I noticed my visible shoulder blades.

"
My shoulder blades and my hips
Emerge from my body like mountains,
My thighs comfortably reside in the caves that are my pant legs,
The same caves they desperately tried to escape last month,
My jawline is prominent, like a cliff in my neck
That leads down into the hollows of my collarbones.

My eyes are falling from my face like loose rocks,
My skeleton is cracking and collapsing
And crumbling like dead trees,
My aching teeth keep me awake in the night.

The drying lakes inside my belly
No longer catch the rain,
The withering flowers inside my brain
No longer catch the sunlight,
Everything is dying, dying...
