Mother's Tears

Mother's Tears

A Poem by Lei
"

Question every decision, every mistake, even successes; knowing you are shaping a little being to be the best they can be. Reflecting back at you. Even years after, can you live with that?

"

Mother's Tears

I cry

When the past catches your last breath

Life’s challenging mistakes

Reminds the distress

I cry

Fighting the secrets of a past denied

Telling myself it is not my lie

Sorrow and pain

I cry

Forgiveness weighs an ugly scale

Trickling affects of childish ways

Pacing a room in shame

I cry

Not for myself

No sympathy explained

Missing your laughter

A childhood shattered

I cry

I’m sorry.

Words not given in vain

My past mistakes

Heavy stakes

I cry

Forgive me.

Author's Note

Lei
When is a good time to tell a child about an adoption? The right time never seems to be appropriate yet when you feel the time isn't right; time waits for no one and all hidden secrets come about... this is a mother's story.
