Children of Abraham (A Message For Moshe)

Children of Abraham (A Message For Moshe)

A Poem by Legion
"

Through tears, something for the two year-old child found sitting by his dead parents with their blood soaking into his pants that were killed in the horrible Mumbai attacks. May God or Allah or whoever the hell is in charge have mercy on us all. :(

"

Children Of Abraham

(A Message for Moshe)

Moshe,

May you grow to understand

That all the children of Abraham

Have failed in their Father's eyes.

Each,

By their own design,

Believe that their way to be divine

And death for those they despise.

Think

Before you retaliate.

Fail to emancipate

The hatred that you will grow into.

Peace

Must come from within

Before you can begin

To relinquish the anger that you will hold onto.

Beget

Not the pain foolish, prideful men created

As they changed your innocence, now faded.

Leaving your parents' blood running cold.

Stop

And spread no further distress.

This cycle you must repress

When the urge to strike back takes hold.

Moshe,

Let Abraham sleep peacefully.

Do not live your life vengefully.

Remember always, but do not react.

Teach

His children and show them humanity

And perhaps someday, through your humility,

You will give them what they've forgotten back.

Hate grows in the hearts of men, because we despise, because we loose trust and compssion... our self hate and anger turns toward others because of the omission of self... we then crashn into depression...which is another form of anger without trying to figure out what it it we are angry at, we build bombs and take up arms.

i take it back,. this is your best poem. not only the thoughts of this very thinky work, but the presentation is good. the symbology or what ever you call it, is powerful and makes the reader want to keep reading.

There are many lines here that encapsulate the times, I particularly find this talented work of
undertanding heartwrenching, and in many ways the messeges ring loud and clear, its a bell and
rings of the moment and how people have shaped ideas and views to distract (unintentionally perhaps)
but still take away from the divine messege of peace and what it means to be thy brothers
keeper in any rationality, or nationality, I chose the below lines to essence my opinion,
yet the entire brilliant witing as a whole speaks with equal clarity and conviction Jim.

By their own design,
Believe that their way to be divine
And death for those they despise.

WOW!!! DOUBLE WOW!!!! I am in awe of this, that little boy tore my heart out. I found this piece emotionally perfect and draining, it befits the horror and makes monkeys out of the perpetrators....I hope the hatred doesn't continue, but like you I fear it will. The title is excellent.
Thank you for your compassion. Send this to your local newspaper, I'm sure they would take it on.

Such a touching write. So full of feeling and truth. As so many before me have said, this is a most "Powerful" write. I am truly touched, mostly with saddness for the unknown ahead of us...

Most Splendid! You absolutely captured everything that is exactly wrong with a lot of present religious thought. If only more people would take the time to think.....I just read another poem by a different poet, who prides themselves on being an outspoken christian, and their poem is exactly against everything your poem says....if only more people would see the wrongs in some of their actions.

I do not know what to say...
"this is beautiful" "this is powerful" "this is a lesson we all need to learn" all those things are true about this poem yet they say too little. I am at a loss for words. What a wonderful tribute to Moshe.

It feels like an evolutionary ceiling constructed of a substance known as vengeance. We seem to have been able to morph into beings with larger brains, beings that walk upright and beings that use tools, but we cannot evolve past vengeance.

You sum it up quite directly here, so much so that if I thought that humanity had the capacity to learn this lesson, this would be the preface for the book that contained that lesson.

Sigh!
