...and though...

...and though...

A Poem by Legion
"

Something I wrote for my wife. A companion to the poem "...and if..." posted on this site which I wrote for her while we were dating many years ago.

"

...and though...

(for Cari a.k.a. Mrs. Legion)

...and though our lives came together

through the union of marraige,

we were combined long before that vow.

...and though our love may not be

the love of the ages,

it is a love that is ageless.

...and though our embraces

hold us together less frequently,

we still hold each other within our hearts.

...and though we drift within and without

of focus pondering what is and what might be,

our thoughts are still with one another.

...and though we find ourselves

passing time until the final moment,

the minutes between are spent combined.

...and though the fire that fused

together our passion burns less brightly,

the embers keep us comfortably warm.

...and though our words are heard

less often for lack of being spoken,

we understand each and every one set free.

...and though our time here together

may not be everything we hoped for,

it will inspire to be all that we need.

This is a beautiful tribute to the concept of lasting love. After that first passionate time, the comfort of true love settles in and it's like coming home to be with the one you have loved for many years. What a very sweet poem to write for your wife. It expresses each facet of real love in a concrete way while maintaining the freshness of new insight. Very nice piece!

Having read "and if" then this, it shows what "true" "real" love means. Fires that once burned brightly now embers that warm, are a true sign of love growing and changing with time which is what "real" life and love does. A beautiful, heart warming, loving poem to one that I KNOW returns your feelings. It is a great thing when a man can express himself such as you have done. Your Mrs Legion is a very lucky woman and knowing her, I happen to know she loves and appreciates you and your writing these special words for her. You are an inspiration and a great man indeed. Congratulations on a very well written, special poem.

Awww! This is really sweet. I can expect that your wife must be head-over-heels in love with the man who wrote this for her.
It's really nice to hear a piece that is written from the marrage point of view. So many people are getting divorced now or are just dating. Being just sixteen, it's nice to see married couples besides my parents that are still in love with each other, regardless of how long they have been together.

What sweet words for your lovely, Legion. This is like a breath of fresh air. I am always given pause when I read a man's words for his girl because you men often have a difficult time expressing them. This is wonderful. It made me smile. A special girl she must be, indeed. Thanks for sharing. :)

That is lovely. To feel that connection no matter what...
I particularly love:

...and though the fire that fused

together our passion burns less brightly,

the embers keep us comfortably warm.

This describes perfectly those 'grown together' relationships which stand the test of time.
Lovely...
