...and though...

...and though...

A Poem by Legion
"

Something I wrote for my wife. A companion to the poem "...and if..." posted on this site which I wrote for her while we were dating many years ago.

"

...and though...

(for Cari a.k.a. Mrs. Legion)

...and though our lives came together

through the union of marraige,

we were combined long before that vow.

...and though our love may not be

the love of the ages,

it is a love that is ageless.

...and though our embraces

hold us together less frequently,

we still hold each other within our hearts.

...and though we drift within and without

of focus pondering what is and what might be,

our thoughts are still with one another.

...and though we find ourselves

passing time until the final moment,

the minutes between are spent combined.

...and though the fire that fused

together our passion burns less brightly,

the embers keep us comfortably warm.

...and though our words are heard

less often for lack of being spoken,

we understand each and every one set free.

...and though our time here together

may not be everything we hoped for,

it will inspire to be all that we need.

This is a beautiful tribute to the concept of lasting love. After that first passionate time, the comfort of true love settles in and it's like coming home to be with the one you have loved for many years. What a very sweet poem to write for your wife. It expresses each facet of real love in a concrete way while maintaining the freshness of new insight. Very nice piece!

Awww that is so sweet! I love the part where you say
"...and though the fire that fused

together our passion burns less brightly,

the embers keep us comfortably warm."

That is so true! Thanks for sharing :) and thanks for reviewing my poem.

Far and beyond something I would write. Honestly, it made me ill. Yes, that is a compliment. Passion sometimes is lost in that s****y lust that we call f*****g. Yet you are able to bring a perspective of happiness, contentment, and a true meaning of love. Love....a word lost to translation. Passion is simply "keep us comfortably warm".

A truely magnificient piece. Impressive.

This is beyond words. It would be quite difficult for me to choose one that fits the best for this piece. May you always treasure her! This does show the affection and gratitude towards such a wonderful human being. I felt the connection. Well penned.

Ok...I admit I cried. Tell anyone and I'll whip your a*s! This is amazing and beautiful! I cried more because the words seem so sincere than from my wanting them for myself! This is an amazing love poem and you are both blessed to have found something so elusive and rare!

This is a remarkable piece of verse. It almost seems like something you would here read at a wedding or more likely at a renewing of vows. The theme around which you've formed this poem, the "...and though" of all the thoughts which might have been marked with sadness or regret, is truly moving. It is not to say, I love you despite this, it is to say I love you with all this, because of this, because this is who we've have grown to be together and will continue to grow forever. What I'm really trying to say you've already said for me in your final stanza.

...and though our time here together
may not be everything we hoped for,
it will inspire to be all that we need.

Keep writing, and I'll keep reading.

You can always tell a poem written for someone truely loved...this made me think of the one person i love more than anyone one on this planet... and thats exactly what it should do....Can you feel the love tonight, comes to mind....i can feel it here...kudos, great poem.

What a beautiful way to portray your emotions for your companion! This poem was lovely and sweet. Alas, now I'm jealous. I like how you remark that you two were connected well before the marriage, making the legal union trivial in regards to your love.
