Death of an Immortal

Death of an Immortal

A Poem by Legion
"

Something to give thought to.

"

Death of an Immortal

Surrounded by this flood of blood,

Encompassing what I have become.

Baptized and bedamned, this fetid tide.

I, fetus, flushed with finality.

Delivered from womb to the tomb

I have lived this miniscule undeath,

For if one is not born, can one die?

An infant captured in infinity.

Geez! That one hurt! I think you will have many answers to that question; for those who choose to flush away never consider the life known of yet unseen. And those who know the unseen is there consider it as alive. It's an emotional subject and given to debate with your question. I say where there is a heart there is life. But to some it is a best forgotten immortal who never had a chance to be in their hearts. I think where you stand on this shows clearly. Life is precious!

Interesting impact this has. On the one hand it makes me think about the question and on the other it makes me feel........something. Sad that that is all there is for the child. And what of the mother/father?

Very intense writing and imagery. Powerfully understated in tone and voice. Wisely, you let the images carry the power. This is a poem that commands and demands attention. - EllisD

From pigs flying to obortion, very diverse. I'm not going to lend an opinion about the issue of abortion one way or the other but the write is without flaw. It is short and to the point, stark yet well crafted. The last line of the piece packs a huge gut punch...

This is right on, it's a simple poem and right on the mark. This should open a lot of eyes. Good work.

Wow, beautiful.
I really don't know what to write more about it :P, just that it impressed me and that you managed to put yourself very well in the skin of an immortal.

Legion, oh my. This is a sensitive subject and one I feel very strongly about,
in favor of the fetus.
You have described an abortion with brutal truth and spared no one.
I've lost my heart and stomach in a few short lines...

Mission accomplished. Great job.
