The Way of Things

The Way of Things

A Poem by Legion
"

This is a very old piece that I just realized I forgot to put back on here after the mass deletion.

"

The Way of Things

Sitting in
An isolated room
With the scream of insanity
Put on his tongue,
Knowing the knowledge
That put him there.
A twinkle in the eye,
Backed by an intelligent mind
With a warped sense
Of humor.
But,
It is the way of things.

Standing on
A lonely street corner
Holding onto a lifeless
Cat.
Tears flow into the
Sidewalk of frustration.
Little blue eyes
Covered with long, blonde hair
Gaze into the
Carbon Monoxide
World.
But,
It is the way of things.

Thrown into
A cold, dark alley,
Left there to
Pass away into
Nothingness.
The dulled, silent eyes
Slowly closing
About this world
He believed in.
But,
It is the way of things.

Running across
A cool, clean field of
The forest floor.
Chasing after
The elusive rainbow.
With the wink
Of an eye
She has caught
The colored ribbon,
Proving there is
Gold in the magnitude
And massiveness of
Blackness.
And that,
Is the way of things.

Terrific piece of prose, ruthlessly honest and painful...thank you for ending on a high note! It is the way of things and I don't think many people have thought about the way to change things.
Writing a piece of this standard is brilliant considering the age your were when it was penned.
Kudos from me...

Started out so sad and depressing but glad to see a happy ending. True life is a real b***h at times and to many but we have to hold on to hope or where does our future go? We have to have faith in "the colored ribbon" or all may be lost. Really liked the last paragraph. May have been written long ago but still well done and a really good read. You bring "reality" into the open. Good write. ;)

The random flow of stream of consciousness always opens doors for the writer and the reader.
This piece written in your earlier years foretold of the fine writing we have been reading ever
since. The thinking mind takes us with the writer and mentors others as you have done so well.

I love the both the air of self-confidence that comes from this along with the sense of hide and seek.

I liked it... a lot. That you were only 17 or 18 makes me like it even more. I liked your use of "its the way of things", makes the reader take notice, ponder, dig a little deeper, just what is the way of things we so easily accept?

I liked it. I liked some of the images it presented, although I wish I had seen something other than sight being used to present the poem. That would be my recommendation for improvement, that and the flow, since it seems a bit choppy. Still, it was nice to read. Thank you for sharing.
