It sure seems like the full moon affects people's psyches doesn't it?
I mean who knows whats on the dark side?
Save for a few astronauts doing a fly by, we don't know what's over there,
except for a man, and a whole lot of swiss cheese of course
What a powerful werewolf poem! I especially appreciate it because I'm infatuated with the moon and its effects on our lives and the Earth. The first part had me thinking "um, menstruation?" but the second half made it clear that the moon is forcing a much bigger change than that. Great repetition of the first and last line.
I loved the imagery of the moon "swaying with the tide" and not the other way around...very interesting read...next time I see the full moon in the sky I will listen for the howl of the werewolves. This is an extremely powerful poem!!
Wow...okay, that was actually good! This is one of the first, like, really, really good pieces that I've read. In fact, it reminded me a little bit of this poem that I read once that described a woman as the ocean and the earth as her lover...too bad I can't remember the author's name right now. Well, I'll let you know if I remember who wrote it.
Your use of "ing" was very effective in this poem, though I must say I took the middle of the poem to be a sort of metamorphosis, so then I had to read the poem again to get the "macabre" part.
this well written poem paints an intriguing picture. At first it reminded me of something similar I had written last summer after dancing naked under the stars with only the night warmth to cloth me...but there was no agony or snarling, only bliss. Good write tho.
Unique way of seeing a moon-rise? It has a dark undertone which I was not sure if you meant to give the reader; gives it a chilly rendition of how a werewolve's love for that dance, yet seems painful (similar to the joy of a sadist or masochist would have for sensual pain)... I never offer to change anyone's piece, for it takes away the individuality of that artist, you are you're own Anne Rice in poetry. Great write.
I knew I'd heard that name before, so naturally I Googled it and found that Lon Chaney Jr. was the first actor that was in all four classic monster movies: The Wolfman, The Ghost Of Frankenstein, The Mummy's Tomb, and The Son Of Dracula, to quote imdb.com
Great imagery here, and depicting the moon as female was a nice touch.
I write about various topics. Mostly I write poetry/songs. I took my screen name from a concept album/epic poem I wrote years ago titled "Legion's Legacy: Tales of the Damned" which was inspired by .. more..
