The Hope of Summer

The Hope of Summer

The Hope of Summer

The hope of summer
Springs eternal
From the frost-bitten thoughts
Of the farmer and the field-hand
That holds the hoe
That cracks the crumbling ground
In which seeds shall be sown.

The hope of summer
Winter denied,
Provides the power
Of living life,
Resilient of the receding cold,
And blossoming in full bloom
In which seeds shall be sown.

The hope of summer
Falls, fumbling
In the deepest depths
Of the care-free child
That caresses the comfort
Of the knowledge in knowing (growing)
In which seeds shall be sown.

I really like the repetition. Often, it drives me postively batty, but just a little repetition can really be a selling point.

I have to agree with Peaches:

"The hope of summer
Winter denied,
Provides the power
Of living life,"

That is my favorite line. Great write. Glad to see you back up to 50!
