Hark! Charon Comes!

Hark! Charon Comes!

A Poem by Legion
"

A piece on the dreaded ferryman.

"

Hark! Charon Comes!

The wherry,

Shadow of darkness,

Knifes into the

Mist,

Haunting dreams.

Silence echoes

In the stillness

Of

An endless tide;

Burdensome currents.

Pilfering souls!

Skeletons drink

Of the waters,

Burning waters,

That only spirits swim.

Damnable toll!

To pass,

Is to pay

With life.

Illusive mortality.

The wherry,

Shadow of reality,

Dances upon the

Waves,

Crushing time.

Legion

(circa 1985)

I had to check you again on "wherry." You can have that one as well. It must be a britch to play scrabble with you! I so love Greek mythology, and you might have inspired me to write a poem about Orpheus and Eurydice. That is one of my favorite love stories of all times!
