Martyr (Carrying the Cross)A Poem by LegionWhat would you do?
Martyr (Carrying the Cross)
Rocks tear and slice His feet As He walks beyond. Back bent with Burden. His eyes (Calm and comforting) Pierce the jeering crowd And fall on me.
I tremble.
Those eyes, so luminous, Question, "Would you carry this cross?"
The thought races In my mind, "Would you carry this cross?"
I look away. He walks beyond.
Legion (circa 1989)
