Fractured Wings

A love poem I wrote for my wife after she was hurt and became disabled which really changed the direction and dynamics of our marraige.

 

Fractured Wings

(for Cari)

 

Gazing upon a slumbered form,

Holding a whisper of

"I miss you.".

Not daring to speak aloud

For fear of breaking

The moment,

Like the fractured wings

That bear the burden

Of your agony.

Gazing upon a slumbered form,

Clinging to the thought,

"I need you.".

Knowing the turmoil

That etches its sadness

On your soul,

I strive to continue

To support and strengthen

What is torn.

Gazing upon a slumbered form,

Contemplating a wish,

"I want you.".

Indefinite as to ascertain

How to mend a mind

As well as the spirit,

And the body that encompasses.

The abode that I hold

In reverence and awe.

Gazing upon a slumbered form,

Grasping the knowledge of

"I love you.".

Wow. This was a really heart-touching write. It must have been such a shock to the heart when something like this happened, but you stood by your woman, like a man should. It's so nice to read your work and come to terms that, "hey, there really is real men out in the world"!
