A Letter For King George

A Letter For King George

The world's a stage of circumstance

On which you dance your dance of decadence.

Manipulate the media maze

And spin the truth to a frenzied haze

Of manageable misdirection.

Strangulation of the population

Through entropic sovereignty,

Inclines a nation towards indignity.

Inalienable rights separated.

Freedoms now not tolerated.

Forefathers raging in their interment.

George's tyranny, they thought, in banishment.

Now, revolution spreads wings on wind

Prepared to take flight once again.

This message for those with reins in hand,

Like King George of old, your reign, too, will end.

haha "of managable misdirection strangulation of the population" haha you are brilliant. The poem is made dismal and oppressive from the side of the power holders by the shadow of the gloomy place in our minds we live today - yes, I feel so, when I open the newspaper. Brilliantly argued.

This is great!!
We don't need rights or even definable words, as long as we have God as our president. :)

Powerful. The imagery of leaders using the world as a stage after all... they perform for us, entertain us with fiction and tales lightly based on fact, rather than do for us the things that are useful. Your choice of words and phrasing, takes on form in this work like an artist's rendering on canvas ... Powerful verb use 'rights Separated', 'Freedoms now not Tolerated' drives the home the deeds of political injustice.

I was so glad to see this one return from the dead! This inspires me to recreate my epic poetry anthology, most of which is "resurrected in a slightly more tricky form to make it more fun to play," to quote (I believe) Jethro Tull!

This was an excellent poem all over again. At least, I can readd this to my pesky poetry anthology! I almost don't want to take the time to rebuild that thing until December, 2008. That sounds like a good date for some reason. ;)

Great write!

Peace,
Gabe
