Know Who You Are

Know Who You Are

A Poem by Legacy
"

Is this a possibility... in Knowing Who We Are, do you think we should take the time to understand others, before investing in our own?

"

Understanding who we are?

As a young child I was faced with many circumstances which stretched ‘who I was’ at an age when baseball, snowballs and candy should have consumed me.

How are we to assist, teach or even lend a hand to another or for that matter given the right when we truly do not understand who we are?

Do we lend an ear?  Or just keep Talking?

Understanding Who We Are, could this expose us for who we truly are?

The future moves into the past…

Know Who You Are

Facing our Fears – Is all, but a mirror image

One we refuse to see - one we refuse to acknowledge?

I claim no acceptance in fostering appreciation

Encompassing emotions, other than my own

Elapsed time, this I can-not proclaim.

Guilty I am… Immersing ‘my being’ in the past

The lifting of boundaries (through Love and Understanding)

Offered in abundance… “This eludes me.”

Where have we lost such pluralisms in life?

Why do we wish to ex-change the reflections of who we are?

Without values we have no foundation

Our future should not, and must not, be transmogrified

(Because of our past)

Eyes of first impressions lost in judgment

Casting of shadows, tossing blame

Why must we quench our thirst from the well of hatred?

Who are we to judge without knowledge, or out of fear?

Thoughts become nothing more than reflections
History will - recall voices within our diverse past

When we really speak the words ‘Thank You’ ‘I Love You’ ‘I ‘Appreciate You’ ‘I am Truly Sorry’ are they really filled with the meanings they deserve?

A message conveyed or perhaps ‘lesson to be learned’

Looking back – moving forward

Beyond Cognition, reflections now dissolved

 Image of another becomes clear

I must vanish to…

Know Who {You} Are…

Wow, it leaves me thinking of a lot of questions I have to ask myself. And you're right, why are we still so teribly prejudice, always angry and upset over the silliest little things. And I totally agree with Demyra there that sometimes we say things like I love you without even thinking it. I know I do it all the time, mostly to friends and family but I say it so that, should anything ( Goddess Forbid) happen to either of us, they know that they were loved.

The concepts here speak to a calling. A great calling. You are perhaps a teacher of this concept for others to seek to try to understand. This concept is a theme that runs through all of our lives. We were meant to learn one day to see the patterns of the negative aspects of this, wonder what has gone wrong, seek to understand it, heal it and then over come it. Transmute the fear into love for they neighbor. But when so many cannot love themselves, see the love within themselves, how can they ever recognize it in their brother. Some can learn through reading works such as ACIM to help but for others, the direct experience will be the only teacher. I deeply appreciate this work for it speaks to a sentiment I struggle with and yet strive daily to convey. I seek to convey it through my mere mundane mortal existence, through my work, through my writing but it always seems to fall on deaf ears. Each will come to the well of truth when they realize truly that they thirst for it. I ramble. I'm sorry. I enjoyed reading this work very much because it gives me hope...hope that people are striving to reach the truth, each in their own way. With more and more words I see along these lines I am filled with joy. Saying such things will have others thinking me looney...I may be, who knows, but its how I feel. It's who I really am. Blessings to you.

As I see it: we are made of many bits and pieces We are made from all the elements that compose the symphony of nature and come together to invent life we breath air, and drink water and eat plants and animals and so they become part of us we are imprinted with all the secrets from the beginning of life so each one of us are an independent part of everyone else We have to understand others and all to understand ourselves In a way we only exist if others see us! If no one sees and feels us we are just ghosts of some idea and even if they see us, sometimes we are not really sure we exist but in our minds!!! :)
Who am I?! Well, a minuscule grain of sand in an immeasurable beach and an immense universe exploding with all I have inside! Nothing Everything less then a virus as big as any god you might invent a life as short as a breath in and out, and as long as all that is there before the conscience of me and will pass on and on and on and on after the conscience of me!
I know I know nothing and I know I can "feel" everything if I open my arms and breath in what is around I know I'm alone and that I can never ever be alone, as much as a try!
The big problem, for me, is not to look "beyond ourselves" that is what we try to do all the time and what is always teach to us the big problem is to look "inside ourselves" and see, and hear, and feel how every thing is written there and accept what we are, what we need, what we feel, because, only then we can real understand others! And guilty and most of the "values" and "judgments" are just a way used by the "powerful specialists" that want us to look "beyond" and not "inside" so they can control our minds and make us "fear" and out of fear it ONLY comes "hate"! Where there is no fear, there will be no hate and then our own image will come clear, as clear as all that exists!
Can we just rube fear from ourselves and the things we teach, from the legacy we live behind? I'm trying!!! :)
Thank you very much for asking! :)
Hugs

I can appreciate your message and what you are trying to do but honestly, the piece is hard to fully understand. I had to re-read it a few times and go over each line but even then I remained confused. The language is difficult to keep up with. Also, the piece just doesn't flow as fluidly as it could and I think that's partly because you touch upon several different ideas, it jumps around. Perhaps I am supposed to be looking at this in a deeper way, which is the main objection, no? For me, I have to first understand what is being said before I can take the message to heart.

It really is a wonderful write... I am but a simple person however and a few words were beyond my understanding other than that you keep it simple and I like that...

"Why must we quench our thirst from the well of hatred?

Who are we to judge without knowledge, or out of fear?"

These are questions I ask myself often and probably my two most favorite lines from this work... Awsomely Done....

~Frances~

P.S. the words I did not understand are as Follows "pluralisms" and "transmogrified" Call me Cluless but it just draws a blank in my brain =)

Really Great Write though....=)

Knowing who you are...always a challenge..as we are immutable. No place for black and white thinking. absolutes as the truth is ever changing from the multitudes of perceptions. Simply look in another's eyes and you will see yourself reflected back. Every choice we have ever made and will make goes into the tapestry of our lives. Each day another knot in the thread to be pondered, another opportunity to learn, to grow, to enjoy. ...
"Isn't it also true that Nature invented play.." From a poem-I Offered You Butterfly-Writerinside07
Very insightful piece-I agree with you re: .."Quenching our thirst from the well of hatred..all negative action has fear as it's foundation...
