Social Status

Social Status

A Poem by Ashley G.

Skinny or fat,

is it really all that?

Money on a silver platter,

Is that really all that matters?

Smart or athletic

Real or prosthetic,

This is how we’re classified as losers

Ever hear that beggars are choosers?

That girl is fat

but has a heart of gold

That girl is skinny

with a heart so cold.

The boy all alone

smart as can be

maybe even one day

he’ll save you and me.

It’s messed up

that they jab at us

but guess what,

I don’t care for social status.

Wow Ashley, this is great! I think it pretty well sums up the social status and clique classifications that are in today's high schools, namely our's. I like how you did a "this and that" comparison, too. You would say something negative about a girl, calling her fat for example, and then you would turn right around and turn it into a positive and say something great about her. It shows that yeah, social status can suck, but it's also a positive thing because if you're unpopular and bullied, you're more likely to succeed where those rich brats will fail.
