Imagining Fear

Imagining Fear

A Poem by Ashley G.

Lock all the doors,

Lock all the windows,

Feet off the floor,

Beware scary shadows

Dive into bed,

Hide under the covers

Should take some meds

And maybe recover?

Imagination takes off

As you fear in the night

Imagination aloft

As your mind make believe’s frights.

Shaking you wonder,

What if it’s real?

Turn a boom of thunder

Into make believe’s wheel.

Something under the bed may grab your ankle

While shadowy figures pull at your hair

Fearing a little, you turn around

But nobodies there

Not even a sound...

Ashley, this one is for the books. The phrasings, the tone of the poem is frightening.
I loved this part:
"Dive into bed,
Hide under the covers
Should take some meds
And maybe recover?"

Sanity is questioned. An excellent read!
