into shadow

into shadow

A Poem by LeeLee Ryder

Darken eyes peer around corners

Caressing my every move.

My watchful thoughts linger

throughout the trees & wait

to pounce on the shadow

that lingers in the wind.

The cool breeze awakens

the soul of the blind and

those who watch from the sidelines

Alas, the wee ones claw & rip

the mysteries of love into red dust

then tango to the white horizon ...

My eyes penetrate the dark blue as

the walls blacken into shadow

I really like this- simple and powerful. The steady flow and the imagery make for a really good, comfortable read- and then this contrasts with the overlying darkness of the poem. This gives the overall impression of the narrator welcoming the shadow. I enjoyed this, thanks.
