Kelly's Island

This is a poem inspired by the style of Li-Po, a Chinese poet from a long time ago. Kelly's Island is in Sandusky, Ohio.

Kelly’s Island

               

Spending an evening at Kelly’s Island,

you can rise and fall between Lake Erie’s shores

like a wave, yourself.

 

I gulp air as quietly as possible

on my back floating in the water.

 

All noise inside me

travels into my temples,

sounding like explosions.
