Would You Still

Would You Still

A Poem by LeeAnne Peytonn

If I once became

Old

Or Sick,

Disoriented

Or, unpretty,

Would you still cater

To this tarnished soul?

Would you still gently kiss

These chapped lips,

Or wrinkled forehead?

Would you still hold
My frail, Breakable body?

Would you still paint

My face,

With its marks from the crow

And its creases of time?

Or would you turn away

And pretend

I were dust

Or a pesky gnat,

Swatting at your face?

True Love. When you find it, you never want to let it go true love will always stand the test of time,. Growing old together with your soul mate is one of the best things in the world to experience. The wrinkles and chapped lips are just on the outside, its whats on the inside that matter.

Great poem.

Mark.

I really liked this. A question asked, or thought by both sexes.
I couldn't help thinking of the Beatles song; When I'm Sixty-Four.
Lovely piece :)

You're welcome, LeeAnne. It was a pleasure :)
Very universal topic, but uniquely executed.

Oh my gosh...it's like you're in my thoughts with this one. I was thinking this just yesterday. Will love fade with the progression of my age or grow sweeter like wine? :) Wonderful.
