Ice Cold Eyes That Left Me to Cry

Ice Cold Eyes That Left Me to Cry

A Poem by LeeAnne Peytonn
"

Its a Villanelle

"

Alone in the cold of a present night,

My eyes are wet with a frozen tear;

I’ve lost my will to fight.

You’ve torn my heart and taken its light.

I now here stand with no love, but fear;

Alone in the cold of a present night.

You were my fortress, my strength and might;

Now I’m left confined here;

I’ve lost my will to fight.

I thought you were the one, that you were right,

But you’ve left my heart to sear

Alone in the cold of a present night

I feel the ice piercing me from an unknown height.

I see your eyes against the soft white that I can’t hear;

I’ve lost my will to fight.

I thought I’d forget you and your blue eyes bright,

But torn apart am I, the dark coming near.

Alone in the dark of a present night,

I have lost my will to fight

Interesting poem structure and captivating descriptive poem. The only thing that bugged me was the word white in the middle of the line as it rhymes with the top and the bottom lines. It keeps drawing me back there nagging me. I liked it though.
