The After Fire of Desire

The After Fire of Desire

A Poem by LeeAnne Peytonn

Watch it burn.
Singe the memories-
Ash the emotions-
A red and orange painted sky,
The clouds, the smoke.
Breathe in the taste of ash,
Smell your freedom from your past lover's chains.
Let the flames envelop the shattered remnants
Of a forgotten love.
Let the fire dance like a willow in the wind.
Watch it melt the bonds of your heart to theirs.
Let the feel of him float away-
Let the kiss of his lips drift away-
Burn him away

And move the hell on.

Bravo! Very well put. Enthusiastic ending. (One suggestion? Add two spaces at the ends to lift your work up from the bottom of the page so the last lines don't get lost?) :) I.I.

Great! Yeah, move the hell along. Change the context of the experience to one of say, acting in a play, performing for other people. You then shift your viewpoint from one of 'effect,' to one of resumed cause over one's life again.

This poetical reproof, when love goes sour, emotionally demonstrates the hurt and pain of a broken relationship. Well written and thought out – a good solid write!
