Mask

A poem written late at night when I was feeling fearful. Original date: 4-30-09

I am terrified inside
I'll go anywhere I can hide
To fix this is a simple task
I'll hide right here - behind this mask

Emotions are most terrible things
Pain and suffering emotion brings
So I will hide them all away
"Nothing's wrong" is what I'll say

I will never go outside
I'll just stay in here and hide
You had best start to believe
That nobody can make me leave

Everyone tries to no avail
"It's okay," but everyone fails.
"Where are you?" the Lord will ask
Here I am - behind this mask.
