Beat Back the Trees

Beat Back the Trees

A Chapter by Leap

Here is where these bolts come loose
and here my night skies peel up and away
This canvass burdens my heart. For I cannot seem to strap it
            down

I'd love to say I could stay under this evaporating night
    beneath it, I'm honest
and within its departure, they'll arrive with
my lies to pick you apart

By the time it all pulls to frays
I will have mended an atmosphere anew
it will be tended to tonight
by the time I close my eyes
my artificial night will be as life-like as you.
