Ashland

A Chapter by Leap

The only urge left in him was one of desperation
He wanted to smoke and keep smoking until his throat stopped closing in
He wanted to smoke and buy a car
She would know why
He's been fumbling with the bends to make his mark and put his mind at ease,
but his trashcan is overflowing with the fragments of something about
                    her
People are trying to talk to him
   Scathing attempts to humanize him
To bring him back to earth
By giving him only one thing left to say...
If only he could say it.
     Pull yourself together
     Show them you're okay
Nod and flash a stupid grin
For him, that word has never been there
None have ever been with him
The only things he can even begin to conjure up are his honest thoughts in
                                                         - --song-- -
                                             Purple tulips and a home
A home which waits with her and leaves him here to moan
If he keeps up with these cigarettes the tulips will surely die
When they do..he'll lose her favorite color all together, and he'll have to buy
             that car

He'll bring her dried flowers on his way
