Mother Natures Game Of Chess

Mother Natures Game Of Chess

A Poem by Leanne Conway

Standing in the dead of the moonlight
I can feel my heart beating getting quicker
The noises are getting closer
Is this the very end for all to know
Or is it just the beginning of the worlds own games

We're stuck on repeat
History is something that we read about
Hoping that it won't return to haunt us
But we have soldiers living on the streets in fear

We're playing a game of chess with mother nature
And she's winning
We've lost out knight and bishop
Soon our pawns will be all gone
We're stuck on repeat and we're all going down

I've been walking down the same damn street
For what seems like hours now
It's amazing to notice all the things I see
Haven't you taken the time to just breathe
Don't see what we've done to this place we've called home
She's dying and her fighting chance is to wipe us out

We're stuck on repeat
Her life cycle is starting all over again
She's wiping out the problem that harmed her
She's curing the diease that we've caused
Her only fighting chance is if we've all left her

We're playing a game of chess with mother nature
And she's winning
We've lost out knight and bishop
Soon our pawns will be all gone
We're stuck on repeat and we're all going down

This is her very own game of chess now
We're playing by her rules
Whatever wrong decision that we make now on
Will cost us a piece in the game
Soon we'll be stuck at checkmate
And on a shuttle out of here

We're stuck on repeat
Allowing history to continue on a cycle
Dumping in the waters is what happened before
That caused so many health problems
But what do people care now a days
They'll do whatever they can to cover their tracks

We're playing a game of chess with mother nature
And she's winning
We've lost out knight and bishop
Soon our pawns will be all gone
We're stuck on repeat and we're all going down

This is her very own game of chess now
Play by her rules or be taken out without a question
She is done giving her life away for our mistakes
She's lost faith in us and this is her master reset

We're stuck on repeat
We're playing a game of chess with mother nature
This is her very own game of chess now
Whatever she says goes
Or pay with our lives like she's been doing for centuries now

A great idea which included chess, a very well written poem but I will say my opinion to help and encourage you, I don"t think the idea of repeating sentences is a very good one, maybe a one sentence , but no more, when a reader sees a long poem he thinks about new ideas and creativity, I hope I will read more of your poems soon
