Glaciers of My Heart

Glaciers of My Heart

A Poem by Leaner Pastures
"

Some hard truths I have recently faced.

"

I hid the Truth

In layers of Ice

That formed and Ripped

The Glaciers of My Heart

You kindled the Love

With your passion, your Desire

And I threw Ashes and Dust

And Quenched Your Love, Your Fire

I suffocated in a Grave

Of my own Making

Thinking I was so Brave

I breathed your Air of Hope

Now I plummet in Free Fall

Grasping for the parachute Cord

Too late to regret the careless Packing

Despite all the prayers I can Afford

I hid the Truth

In layers of Ice

That formed and Ripped

The Glaciers of My Heart

No sooner we crush our way through a layer of ice than we happen to find another one still wrapping the heart. Maybe letting the Truth melt down those frosty bricks from the inside would be a much more effective solution, but it's so hard to choke our fears and pride instead of giving way to totalizing love.
You offered a beautiful treatment of the basic elements of ice and fire.

There are always more layers. At it will take a while for all of the layers to melt off and for you to be ready to live your life without regret.
One day you will look back and see the trail of water and know that all the ice is gone. Great write

this is how we learn...the way to tell if it's working, is if we walk in anguish for a decade...

A well written poem particulary the above verse caught my attention. I liked the flow and the rhythm of the poem. A nice articulate piece.

A well articulated piece. It stands to be still or can be expanded, which is one of it's points of merit. Extraordinary piece of poetry.

Sometime we can lock the door on everything. Poem is very good. I know the feeling. I needed time alone to figure what I wanted and needed. A excellent poem.
