Mothers do travel a distance

Mothers do travel a distance

A Poem by LeahMichaels♥
"

In their mind and heart.

"

Lost in my words, my thought and emotion.

A purpose so small and fragile in you.

My mind swirls low, deep in your occean,

a depth inviting so weak and so blue.

Months appear slowly and freely pass me by.

I know where I am, I'm here, I'm gone, I fly,

but where am I travelling to?

What lies in this future?

What truth will I uncover?

Will I awake from this slumber?

and hold you, so small and beautiful.

My own.

Responsibilty as new as the first sun rise,

deep gold, heavenly and true.

A shock and a gift and a nightmare all in one.

A bundle of joy a fresh new begining.

I cried and I laughed I just never knew.

What is to be? What is to come?

My fate lies soley in your eyes.

An innocence so pure and faithful.

All that they said were lies.

So, so beautiful. Motherhood is such a blessed and amazing thing. I thank God for my own mother, and I hope to be one someday - though I doubt I can measure up to her. I love the last stanza best. It really captures the gravity and solemnity of becoming a mother.
