The Flightless Bird

The Flightless Bird

A Poem by Vertigo

 Without a word...

I found the shallow light
Against the felt comforting
Even as your pupils dilated
And the sparks placed
In reflections
Within solemn irises
Defying a listless fate
And I...
I am without
A single word
Just like the flightless bird.

I think this is wonderful, I like the imagery you have painted into this.

Well, while I don't understand the "trilogy of continuence" or the "powerful overtone of soul": I did like this piece. The caged bird covered. I do see a slight duality, however if this is a direct simile or metaphor, why can the bird not sing? I understand that he cannot fly: Why can she not sing? Perhaps you meant, for the time being she is out of sight, and might as well be as silent as the dead. Let me in on the abstraction.

intriguingly ambiguous I feel I should know what you mean but eludes me

wow, beautiful metaphor and trilogy of continuence, the eyes, the bird, the flightless action, i love how this poem is soft and romantic as a silky feather, yet has a powerful overtone of soul.
the imagery is gentle upon the heart, lovely.
