Inwardly Bound

Inwardly Bound

A Poem by Vertigo

I hum to a mellow tune feeling my voice resonate through my hollow bones as I breathe in, waiting on a park bench and debating whether I belong here or there. The autumn air chills me through the sunsetting shadows that linger, but I don't mind. My thoughts fly as I watch him walk by like a shadow with his golden skin blending in with the the sunlight falling through the tree branches. "Who could this be?" I wonder as our eyes meet with nothing between us along this narrow street...I lower my eyes inwardly bound to be shy in his wake only to feel his shadow cast until I look up to him and for the first time I smile at last.
