We breathe mountains

We breathe mountains

A Poem by Vertigo

The warmth becomes familiar
As we would breathe just to see if the daylight would fall under us
Like thunder waking with its unbroken quiet tumble

And we are so far unlike light
Filtering through your sun-like irises when they awaken over me

And we would cradle the inevitable
With the passing understanding in quiet
Like love or a kind of knowing to that melancholic beat

And I fall in reaching, pressing palm to palm in quiet shallow breathing just to be held a bit closer and to know the rise and fall of your chest and the way we speak without speaking…

One day it will change And I will fall And I will know And I will inhale every word And every thought And know that I have loved more..
