For just a moment

"Walk with me," I would say and he would close his eyes and sigh
"I only have one day left before this is over Leah"
I watched him for a moment as the light through the window played along his skin
It wouldn't take long for me to realize the ties between us would be broken,
I left oblivious and all I wanted was to feel the frigid winter air and surround myself in the white of snow

I can feel the echo in my mind
And I found that it was my own voice calling back
I had loved him
And now he may never know

"Walk with me," I would say...and he would read my eyes, for just a moment...
