Sleeping In The Rain

Sleeping In The Rain

A Poem by Leah Everett

Sleeping In The Rain

Walking the sea, isn't good enough for me.

Neither is holding the sky in my eye.

I could maybe sow stars back in the dark,

But nothing can mend my broken heart.

So I sleep in the rain,

The numb the pain

To wash away the emptiness

How can I say,

That I need you to stay

When you won't even turn around?

Time flies so fast, and nothing good ever lasts

As I never have a smile to share

I'm hoping and praying, stopping and delaying,

I don't know why I still care.

So I sleep in the rain,

The numb the pain

To wash away the emptiness

How can I say,

That I need you to stay

When you won't even turn around?

It's a waste of time, for this heart of mine

To toil through the pain and the strife

But how can I forget, the first day we met

When it was the best day of my life?

So I'll stand in the rain

And plaster the pain

In attempt to fulfill my emptiness

And then I'll say

That I can no long stay

And then I will turn around.

sad write. I felt the rain beating down on me as
well... Nicely done!
