Blessings

A Poem by Kelly McCormack

Life…the one precious moment when you hear a faint heartbeat.

It’s in that moment that love flourishes, and smiles beam.

Thoughts scatter to cribs, and clothes, and fuzzy teddy bears.

To names, and hopes, and fears.

The promise of sleepless nights, and stressful days

Seems like the answer to all your prayers.

It’s the tiredness that comes with little warning,

The strange cravings that never cease.

It’s the first time you see a ripple across your tummy,

The first time a kick awakes you from your sleep.

And when that special part of you,

Takes his very first breath -

It’s then you realize the miracle,

You know you’re truly blessed.
